ELECTRIC HEAT TRACING

Electric heat tracing involves elements of heat transfer, electrical engineering and design. Different types of heat tracing products are available for various applications, from freeze protection to process temperature maintenance. Not every heat tracing cable is well-suited for any given application and certainly no single heat tracing cable is the best choice for every application. Thermon can objectively evaluate your application needs without misconceptions about a particular heat tracing product because we make them all.

STEAM HEAT TRACING

The development of the first heat transfer cement in the early 1950's became the foundation of Thermon. Today the application of steam to process lies and vessels is essentially the same as it was over 40 years ago. The process industries have become critically dependent upon reliable and accurate performance of their steam tracing systems.

CONTROLS AND MONITORING

Controls and Monitoring play an essential role in heat tracing systems, whether for freeze protecting water lines or maintaining critical process temperatures. Reliable control and monitoring systems insure accurate temperatures, conserve energy and extend system life. While mechanical thermostats have been used successfully for many heat tracing applications, advancements in microprocessor-based technology have made electronic control and monitoring units both cost-effective and reliable.

TANK HEATING PRODUCTS

When specifying a tank or vessel heating system, many choices are available, including heating cables, immersion heaters (steam coils or tubular heaters), and exterior surface mounted panel heaters.

An effective tank and vessel heating system must allow for tank material and thickness, the fluid's viscosity and heat transfer characteristics, maximum operating temperatures, and the various tank operating levels.

Using a well-engineered exterior surface mounted panel heating system will provide the most efficient and reliable heating system at the lowest installed cost.

Thermon's tank and vessel heating FlexiPanels provide day-in, day-out reliable performance unsurpassed by the industry. This product line includes steam and electric heating systems for tanks and liquid storage vessels. Electric heating cables and flexible heating pads are available for all types of tanks, including lines and non-metallic vessels.

HOPPER HEATING PRODUCTS

Flyash plugging in hoppers can lead to costly boiler deratings and shutdowns. But flyash plugging can be prevented with a well-engineered hopper heating system. The heating system must preheat the hopper to prevent moisture condensation and must maintain the flyash at a sufficiently high temperature during normal operation to prevent flyash cool-down, agglomeration and plugging.

Frozen coal plugging of chutes, hoppers, gates and other equipment can be prevented with a well-designed, energy efficient modular heating system. The HT Heating Modules, strategically located, simply melt the ice bond (1,200-1,500 psi) to ensure continuous flow of coal. An engineered heating system is more effective and reliable than systems using vibrators, pneumatic blasters, or sledge hammers. These products include electric heating systems for precipitator and baghouse hoppers and freeze protection of coal or bulk storage/collection hoppers.
