Product Structure
ANAWIN
is a three-tiered software product. Each of the three ANAWIN variations is described
below. Throughout this site, we use the term "ANAWIN" to denote the
full-featured ANAWIN-32 product. Depending on your requirements, you may use one or all of
these variations:
ANAWIN-CNF (the ANAWIN configurator) allows simple setup of Watlow Anafaze
controllers under the Windows® 95 and Windows NT 4.0 operating systems. This includes
setting set points, PID constants, alarm settings, recipe upload/download, etc. The ANAWIN
configurator will communicate to Watlow Anafaze CLS and MLS series controllers using
ModbusTM RTU protocol. Older CLS and MLS series
controllers may be upgraded to Modbus RTU protocol for a nominal charge. Please contact
Watlow Anafaze technical services for more information. Unless you would rather use the
controller keypad or DOS-based ANASOFT® software for setup, you will at least want to use
the ANAWIN configurator.
ANAWIN-32 is the full real-time monitoring, logging, and alarm processing
software system. ANAWIN-32 performs all functions of the ANAWIN configurator, and adds
many additional features. ANAWIN-32 features impressive user-defined graphics,
pre-configured loop monitoring displays, spreadsheet-like parameter arrays, and remarkable
recipe-management and alarm-management capabilities. ANAWIN-32 runs continuously,
capturing critical process data and logging it for future analysis. It monitors the
controllers for deviation and process alarms, and automatically logs alarms and alerts you
to potential problems. All controller information may be displayed on custom graphical
displays (known as custom overview screens), providing visualization of the actual
process. And, ANAWIN-32 can communicate with one controller using the RS-232 serial
interface, or up to 32 controllers simultaneously using the RS-485 serial multi-drop
interface.
Ideally, ANAWIN-32 should be installed on a dedicated Windows 95 or Windows
NT 4.0 PC with no other applications running. However, other applications may be used
concurrently by applying the preemptive multitasking feature inherent in Windows 95 and
Windows NT 4.0, as long as sufficient memory is available for the applications. The memory
requirements for ANAWIN will vary, depending on the number of custom overview screens and
recipes, and the size of the controller database.
ANAWIN-RT is the run-time version of ANAWIN-32, designed mainly for use by
OEM users. ANAWIN-RT is a license to operate ANAWIN-32 on a single workstation, without
the capability of creating or modifying custom overview screens. However, ANAWIN-RT can
display custom overview screens which were created on the full ANAWIN-32 software.
ANAWIN Flexibility
ANAWIN
follows a simple notion: If you don't like the way something works, then change it. Under
that pretense, it is easy to see why ANAWIN will delight users. Some users invariably find
a special software requirement that cannot be met with standard products. With ANAWIN,
Watlow Anafaze provides the tools and building blocks that allow you to make custom
display screens, or automatically manage hundreds of recipes. And only one solution -
ANAWIN - allows you to seamlessly integrate a system of various Watlow Anafaze controllers
into a single system, right out of the box. As new controllers are introduced in the
future, ANAWIN will be the software platform that links all of Watlow.
For users who want more flexibility, Watlow Anafaze's custom overview screens enable
unlimited solutions for computer-adept users.
ANAWIN Ease-of-Use
Ease-of-use
is a standard feature of ANAWIN. Designed by the control experts at Watlow Anafaze, ANAWIN
comes ready-to-use. Simply install the ANAWIN software on your PC, and start configuring
and monitoring controllers. The difficult configuration jargon, "tag names," and
encrypted messages of most configuration and monitoring software have been left out of
ANAWIN -- everything is in plain, simple English.
Easy to Setup
To
configure a controller, users flip through card files of easy-to-follow setup parameters.
When PID constants are changed, you can even view the effects of the changes on a
real-time graph, without having to switch to another section of the software.
Easy to Find Help
Extensive Windows-based help is available from any part of
the ANAWIN software. With more information than most hard-copy software manuals available
at the click of a mouse, the ANAWIN help feature allows new users to quickly become
temperature control loop experts, and gives experienced users a portable reference
database to explore advanced features.
ANAWIN help is context-sensitive, so it knows
where you are in the program, and tailors the help to that situation.
Custom Overview Screens -
Anyone Can Do It
The design view module in ANAWIN is so easy, even users with
limited computer experience will be creating custom screens. You will love the way you can
place the real-time process information on the screen in a way that is meaningful to you.
After mastering the basics described below, anyone can be a "drag-and-drop"
control screen designer.

Caption
The
caption is the name (or title) of the custom screen. Choose something descriptive such as
"Conveyor Overview" or "Wafer Profile." After the custom overview is
completed, this caption is displayed in the Windows pull-down menus, and looks like an
integral part of the software.
Background
Select
a solid color of your own choosing, or place a bitmap in the background. Be as
conservative or as flashy as you want. Several bitmap backgrounds are included with
ANAWIN, or create your own bitmap file (standard BMP format, 256 colors, 640 x 392 pixels)
using any Windows paint program, such as Paint, Paintbrush, or Corel PhotoPaint. You can
even take a photograph of a process or user equipment and scan it to produce a very
customized background.
Graphic
A
graphic is a bitmap or metafile object (a picture) which can be placed anywhere on the
screen. ANAWIN includes many graphics, including pipes, tanks, arrows, bells, lamps,
indicators, and shapes. As with the backgrounds, you are encouraged to create your own
graphics to perfectly represent your process.
Label
A
label is a string of text that can be placed on the screen. Choose your own font,
foreground/background colors, size, and bevel for a modern three-dimensional look. Text
may also be rotated in 90º increments.

Field
Fields
are analog and digital values which are read directly out of the controllers and displayed
on the screen. These values can be process variables, set points, output values, etc.,
from any channel. Fields are constantly updated by ANAWIN when in the monitoring mode.
Digital I/O
Take
any input or output from the controllers, and create a conditional text or graphic object
that changes with the state of the I/O. For example, when a valve opens, a graphic of an
open valve is shown. When it closes, the graphic shows a closed valve. Or, using text,
display a message tailored to a specific alarm condition.
